Roberto De Zerbi Eyes New Tottenham Striker Amid Disastrous Premier League Start

Tottenham Hotspur have made signing a new central striker their primary objective for the January transfer window, with manager Roberto De Zerbi drawing up a shortlist of five potential targets. The Italian coach is eager to bolster his attack after a difficult start to the Premier League campaign, which sees Spurs winless in six matches and sitting in the bottom three. Although Dominic Solanke and loan signing Omar Marmoush are already at the club, further reinforcements are desired, particularly with Richarlison expected to leave.

Benfica's Vangelis Pavlidis has emerged as one of the primary candidates. The 27-year-old Greece international has been in prolific form with 14 goals in 13 games, and his desire to play in the Premier League gives Tottenham an edge over continental suitors like Barcelona. However, any winter deal faces massive hurdles as Benfica are reluctant to sell mid-season and have slapped a €100m (£84.5m) release clause on him, making a January move unlikely and a summer 2027 pursuit more realistic.
