Independent Regulator IFR Could Force Manchester City Owners to Sell the Club

The ongoing investigation into Manchester City's 114 alleged financial breaches has taken a dramatic turn following an independent commission's ruling that the club inflated commercial revenues by £900 million through fictitious deals. While City has appealed the decision, potential sporting sanctions range from heavy point deductions to relegation from the Premier League.

However, a new threat has emerged from David Kogan, chairman of the Independent Football Regulator (IFR). Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Kogan revealed that the regulatory body possesses the ultimate authority to force Sheikh Mansour and the UAE owners to divest from the club if their governance is found unfit. Many within English football argue that forcing out the owners is the only punishment truly proportional to systemic financial doping.
