17-Year-Old Wael Mohya Inspires Borussia Monchengladbach's First Win Amid Elite Interest

Borussia Monchengladbach endured a dramatic start to the Bundesliga season, losing their first six matches to sit bottom of the table. However, Alexander Blessin's side secured their maiden victory on Friday against Stuttgart, spearheaded by 17-year-old attacking midfielder Wael Mohya, who contributed a goal and an assist for Shuto Machino. Having become the youngest player in Monchengladbach's history at 16 years and 9 months old, Mohya has cemented his place in the starting XI with 3 goals and 1 assist in 8 appearances this term.

Sporting director Rouven Schroder praised the teenager's grounded attitude and maturity. While Monchengladbach are in talks to extend his contract beyond June 2028, Schroder acknowledged that a future sale will eventually be necessary to generate financial revenue. Mohya's rapid rise has inevitably alerted top German clubs, with Bayern Munich closely monitoring the U21 international alongside Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, and RB Leipzig ahead of what promises to be a major transfer battle in the summer of 2027.
