Real Madrid Secure Convincing Away Win Against Racing Santander to Keep Pressure at the Top
Following wins by Atletico Madrid and Barcelona at the end of October, Real Madrid kept pace in the La Liga title race with a strong performance against newly promoted Racing Santander at El Sardinero stadium on November 1st. Under Jose Mourinho, the team looked to build on their emphatic El Clasico victory.
Tibaut Courtois returned in goal for Madrid, while Trent Alexander-Arnold started at right-back. Real started brightly, with Kylian Mbappe opening the scoring from the penalty spot. Although Racing Santander threatened through Iker Luke and star forward Yasser Zabiri, Madrid's attacking quality shone through. Jude Bellingham made it 2:0 midway through the first half following a counterattack initiated by Mbappe and aided by Arda Guler, before Yan Diomande added a stunning strike. Despite a serious injury to Racing's Alvaro Mantilla and a VAR-overturned penalty in the second half, Mourinho's side comfortably managed the game to claim all three points and stay hot on the heels of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
